Restauro e rifunzionalizzazione del palazzo sul Canal Grande detto Casa Artom, per ospitare i semestri di studi all’estero degli studenti della Wake Forest University di Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA. Consegnata fase 2 di 3.
Il progetto era nato dall’esigenza di realizzare una nuova e adeguata aula, che fosse in grado di accogliere anche eventi aperti al pubblico oltre alle normali lezioni degli studenti residenti. L’introduzione di questo nuovo elemento ed in particolare l’apertura all’esterno dell’istituzione, ha portato inevitabilmente alla necessità di riorganizzare completamente la distribuzione funzionale dell’edificio.
Si è dunque scelto di impostare l’attività di progettazione attraverso la collaborazione con i dirigenti, i docenti e gli studenti dell’istituzione, nel preciso intento di analizzare, riconoscere e integrare le diverse esigenze degli utilizzatori finali dell’edificio.

Grande rilevanza ha avuto l’esigenza della committenza di programmare le fasi di realizzazione in modo da interferire il meno possibile con le attività didattiche della struttura, che non potevano essere interrotte. Le fasi di cantiere, pertanto, hanno dovuto essere programmate in modo da essere realizzate in accordo con il calendario dei semestri di studio.
